What to do when you have too much yarn….

So I'm a firm believer that using yarn and buying yarn are two completely different hobbies. 😅 Since I've been crocheting for over a decade now (has it really been that long?!) I've accumulated a very modest amount of yarn. From skeins I've purchased as well as been gifted (gotta love grandmas), to hanks I've received as complimentary gifts I have quite the ever-growing collection of yarns.
As I've made various projects, I've ended up with plenty of very small scrap pieces of yarn. Not exactly enough to make anything, but also enough to string together to make multicolored yarn. I noticed my basket was getting a little full, so i decided to make a small cushion for my cats to lay on. Maybe this will deter them from laying on my projects as I make them. (Let's be real, it probably won't.)

I started this project by just eyeballing how big I wanted my cushion to be. I made a Foundation Half Double Crochet chain, and when I was satisfied with the length, I kept making half double crochet rows until I had a long enough rectangle to fold over and sew together. Some repourposed stuffing from an old couch, and voilà! My cats have a little cushion to lay upon now!

If you find yourself like me with a bunch of leftover yarn, and need to remind yourself how to make an even rectangle, this is a great little project. you can make one big rectangle, you can make a bunch of small squares and sew them together, you can even make circles or free form crochet and make unique and one of a kind cushions that nobody else on the world has!

There are so many cool things about crochet. It can't be replicated by a machine, it's always exclusively made from human hands, and when you create something, it is truly a one of a kind item. When you crochet, you create brand new never before seen creations and designs. You deserve the chance to learn this wonderful craft, because it's just as precious and unique as you are.
Can't wait to see what you create today
